Victoria Kriviak has a general litigation practice with a focus on litigating contractual disputes, shareholder and partnership disputes, employment claims and professional negligence claims.
In her employment law practice, Victoria’s practice primarily involves litigating wrongful dismissal and human rights claims. She also has an advisory practice, assisting with employment contracts and terminations, and assisting employers in addressing workplace issues such as with respect to complaints of harassment and theft from the workplace.
In her health law practice, Victoria has experience assisting with claims of professional negligence, mental health law and capacity issues, and professional conduct issues.
Victoria also has experience with language rights proceedings under the Official Languages Act.
Victoria has assisted with matters before all levels of Court in Alberta, at the Federal Court and Federal Court of Appeal, at the Saskatchewan Court of King’s Bench, as well as in arbitrations and before administrative tribunals. She has experience with alternative dispute resolution, including negotiations and mediation.
Prior to becoming an associate at Bennett Jones, Victoria summered and articled with the firm. While in law school, she interned at the Human Rights Commission, Law Reform Institute of Alberta, and the United Nations Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.
Victoria is the co-author of the recently published Annotated Alberta Employment Standards Code.
