Four Bennett Jones Practices Ranked Band 1 by Chambers Global 2017

The 2017 Chambers Global Rankings are out and Bennett Jones is once again noted as a top-ranked law firm. Forty-nine lawyers in 25 practice areas are recognized in the publication. Of particular note are the four practices and nine lawyers recognized in Band 1.

Chambers Global ranked Bennett Jones with a Band 1 status (the highest level) for excellence in Energy: Oil & Gas, Environment, International Trade/WTO and Transportation: Aviation.

Ranked in Band 1 for Energy: Oil & Gas, the firm's energy practice is also noted for five leading individuals. Pat Maguire is noted in Band 1 while Bob Booth (Eminent Practitioner), Don Greenfield, Laurie Smith and Loyola Keough are also recognized.

In Environmental, Chambers' sources call Band 1 lawyer Leonard Griffiths "the dean of Canadian environmental law". Brad Gilmour and Radha Curpen  are also individually recognized for environmental law.

In International Trade/WTO, individual Band 1 rankings for Milos Barutciski and Darrel Pearson complement the Band 1 recognition at the practice level. Jesse Goldman and Matt Kronby are also recognized in this practice.

Bennett Jones' Aviation practice is also ranked Band 1, with Pat Brennan gaining individual Band 1 recognition.

Also individually recognized in Band 1 are Randy Hughes (Competition/Antitrust), Mike Eizenga (Dispute  Resolution: Class Actions) and Rick Orzy (Restructuring/ Insolvency).

Of note, three firm lawyers were ranked as Experts Based Abroad: Melanie Aitken (USA), George Vlavianos (Qatar) and Duncan Card (Bermuda). Sander Grieve is recognized as a Foreign Expert for Australia in addition to his Energy: Mining recognition.
