We are currently recruiting for the following role in our Toronto office:

Legal Assistant, Corporate

Essential Functions:

Core billing responsibilities (80%):

  • Provide billing support across the department
  • Create and edit pre-bills
  • Generate WIP reports
  • Set up new clients and matters within e-billing systems
  • Assist with generating invoices
  • Liaising with billing lawyers, assistants and accounting to ensure timely issuing of invoices

Back-up administrative responsibilities (20%):

  • Provide backup to other legal assistants with the following:
    • Accurately proofreading, formatting, drafting and assisting with various legal and general materials, including: documents, reports, memos, presentations, forms and other items, ensuring accuracy, completeness and compliance with legal processes; checking for appropriate formatting, spelling, grammar, etc.
    • InterAction: keeping client contact information up to date
    • Maintaining Outlook calendars: scheduling meetings, conference calls, travels, and conferences
    • Keeping file lists up to date and taking the initiative to send files to storage once completed

Qualifications:

  • Certification from an accredited Legal Assistant program with at least 5 years of experience
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience within a multicurrency billing/e-billing processing role
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment, to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and work well under pressure
  • Ability to handle confidential and non-routine information, with discretion and professionalism
  • Exceptional proofreading, grammar and research skills
  • Strong attention to detail and superior organizational skills
