Alicia Yowart has a general litigation practice with a particular focus on health law and commercial disputes. Alicia's health law practice involves acting in professional negligence matters for physicians sued for medical negligence or facing professional disciplinary proceedings. Alicia has assisted with matters before the Alberta Court of Justice, the Alberta Court of King's Bench, the Alberta Court of Appeal and various administrative tribunals.
During law school, Alicia was awarded first place in the Atlantic McKelvey Cup Trial Advocacy Moot and third place in the National Sopinka Cup Trial Advocacy Moot. Alicia also volunteered as an Advocate and Director for the Dalhousie Student Advocacy Service, where she assisted and represented students facing disciplinary actions. In her final year of law school, Alicia studied abroad at the University of Bergen in Norway.
Prior to becoming an associate at Bennett Jones, Alicia summered and articled with the firm's Calgary office. During her articles, Alicia was seconded to the Calgary office of a large integrated oil and gas company.
Alicia gives back to her community as a volunteer with the Women’s Centre of Calgary’s Legal Advice Clinics, which provide pro bono advice and assistance to women facing legal challenges.
