Accounts Receivable Specialist
The Role:
The Accounts Receivable Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the AR department by processing deposits, posting payments, and reconciling daily financial transactions. This role may also assist with the collection of overdue accounts. The AR Specialist collaborates closely with internal teams and external clients to ensure accurate financial records. The successful candidate must be detailed oriented, organized and able to comprehend complex requests while providing superior customer service to external clients and internal clients at Bennett Jones.
Essential Functions:
- Completing daily deposits and entry into the accounting system.
- Using electronic remote cheque depositing software for firm deposits.
- Reconciling unallocated credit reports and balancing daily deposits.
- Processing credit card payments.
- Processing reversals for cash receipts and trust reserves when required.
- Reconciling and investigating e-billing submissions and verifying payment discrepancies.
- As a key member of the Accounts Receivable team, you will assist with:
- Running monthly client collection reminders.
- Following up with assistants and lawyers on the status of outstanding AR.
- Contacting external clients regarding overdue accounts.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the department manager.
- Some overtime may be required during peak periods
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will comply with all established policies and procedures and exhibit the following attributes:
- Minimum 2 years of experience with multicurrency cash applications, accounts receivable, or a similar financial role.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to reconcile financial transactions accurately.
- Experience in a legal work environment or other professional services firms are considered assets.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to research discrepancies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, accounting systems and e-billing platforms.
- An ability to work independently and within a team environment, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
- Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams and external clients.
- Able to analyze a variety of circumstances and provide solutions.
